Xylopia aethiopica
Aromatic African pepper, slightly musky and pungent, moderately spicy. The fruits are blackish berries, long, narrow and bumpy. It is best to grind it in a blender and remove the large fibers before serving it on the table. Same uses as black pepper but with a very original scent. Flavors pickles and vinegars in particular. In Senegal, it is mixed with coffee which, thus flavored, takes the name “touba coffee”.
